About

2019 is the year I want to do something fun, purposeful, something with other people and *whisper something to lessen the Christmas bulge. My thoughts have been turning more and more to the inadequacies in mental health provision for children and the lack of understanding surrounding mental illness and wellbeing. The inequality of access to mental health support, usually due to familes not being able to afford the hefty private prices was starting to make my blood boil (not good for my wellbeing). Then the idea struck.

We could set up a challenge, a family challenge around the 5 ways to wellbeing that would help us be active, take notice, connect, keep learning but most of all, give. I'd been thinking for a while about how I could give something back to an incredible charity: TICplus, whose mission is to improve, preserve and promote good mental health and well-being among children, young people and families. TIC+ provides counselling, support and care for young people and families, serving Gloucestershire and surrounding areas.

I have had fantastic experience of this charity both professionally and personally. They have been a 'life saver', metaphorically and I'm sure literally in many cases. Now to put a plan in place and dust off our boots.

So during 2019, we aim to walk all 102  miles of the Cotswold Way. We'll walk in little chunks, not in any particular order/ length or timeframe but to ensure we can all enjoy it; young, old, kids, dogs, friends, relatives, walking as a team. I can't think of a better way to combine all our goals into one big challenge.

Anything you can donate for this important charity, a penny a pound, a fiver would be wonderful. Also, if you'd like to join us on a chunk of our challenge, please get in touch!
